Over 35 years of experience in Upstream & Downstream areas in the Production and Processing of Heavy Oils with PDVSA, Veba Oel, Chevron and Repsol. Since 2006, Repsol employed me as a Senior Advisor in Upstream and Downstream Technology Direction.
Expertise
- Oil Refining Process Specialist, managing 60 Engineers in PDVSA and 5 in Chevron with extensive experience in Refining Processes, Refining Process Engineering in Distillation, Hydrocracking, Hydrotreating plants, Delayed Coking facilities, Products and Crude Blending and Process Plant Optimization via linear programming (PIMS).
- 25 years’ experience in upgrading of heavy crude oil where I have 17 US patents granted in upgrading, refining and fluid mechanics. I participated in the development of the LC-Slurry technology of Chevron, VCC Technology (BP/VEBA OEL), which is commercialized by KBR and HDH+ from PDVSA.
- Managing of Refinery and Petrochemical Plant Technical Services and Technology licensing. I have solid Capital Planning, Engineering Project Management and Financial Management skills (Chevron certificate of Project Management-CSOC).
- Specialist in Chemical EOR and Thermal EOR technologies on a variety of fields (EOR Screening, Experimental & numerical simulation, and upscaling to a field pilot), as well as in conceptualization and engineering of surface facilities, definition of integrated Upstream & Downstream heavy oil projects.
