I have developed a wide ranging career in the Oil & Gas Industry around the world encompassing all aspects of Process Safety, Loss Prevention and Risk Management.

I have a proven track record and extensive hands-on experience for over 42 years in Process Safety, Loss Prevention and Risk Management covering all operational aspects of the upstream O&G industry going from Drilling to Tank Farms and Export Operations, both onshore and offshore.

  • Highly experienced in the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems in O&G companies around the world.
  • Highly experienced in the use of design and assessment methodologies such as Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Safety Integrity Level (SIL), HAZOP, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Event Tree Analysis (ETA), Consequence Modeling, ALARP Demonstration, etc.
  • Highly experienced in risk management of processes with very high H2S content.
  • Highly experienced in providing technical process safety requirements and supporting studies relating to facility design over the lifecycle of a project as key inputs to the relevant development stages.

  • Industrial Engineer with a Master of Science Degree (Engineering) in Process Safety and Loss Prevention from the University of Sheffield (UK).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) by The Engineering Council, London (UK), and Chartered Engineer (Eur Ing) by The European Federation of National Engineering Associations. Member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE), and the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) (UK).
  • Extensive exposure to multi-cultural environments: worked in Venezuela, Caribbean, USA, Saudi Arabia, UK, Spain, and Kuwait.
  • Author of over 200 technical reports, papers, codes of practice, technical guidelines, and training courses on Process Safety and Risk Management.
  • Fluent in several languages: Native Spanish and Galician. Fluent (written and spoken) English. Conversation level in Portuguese.
  • Main work experience: From November 1975 to October 1995, technical, managerial and consultancy positions at PDVSA in Venezuela. From November 1995 to August 2017, technical, managerial and consultancy positions at several international O&G companies around the world, including British Petroleum, Saudi Aramco, and Kuwait Oil Company.
